with my two hands... i can change the world: STOP.... →
withmy2hands: Attawapiskat. If you’re in Canada, you’ve heard about Attawapiskat this week, although before this week you probably didn’t know it existed. If you aren’t in Canada, you’re about to learn some very disturbing information. Now, I’m not going to talk about the “news” problem facing Attawapiskat…

Success
z3r0b1t: I have to write and blog this while it’s fresh in my mind. To me and for me, success is trying. Success is not winning. It’s participating. I use to compete and race mountain bikes all over Canada and the United States. Especially with 24 hours races. My goal was always to finish the 24 hour race. I never competed to win rather participated to finish the race I started.

Are you proud of who you are?
Are you proud and aware of your hereditary background? Or are you just proud because you know you’re Native American, Aboriginal, First Nations, Inuit, or Metis? Many youth talk about having pride, but are you truly aware of the history and knowledge? Being proud of who you are goes beyond just a title, name, or a look. It’s like saying you’re a professional athlete, but have...

Vancouver police task force referred to missing... →
VANCOUVER — Vancouver police officers and staff referred to the missing and murdered women as “hookers” or “whores,” made sexist remarks about female bosses and even disparaged grieving families, but the Vancouver Police Department does not suffer from “systemic bias,” an inquiry heard Tuesday.

Clean running water still a luxury on many native... →
For most Canadians, an unlimited supply of clean water flowing freely from a tap and imperceptibly whisking away their waste at the simple push of a lever is a given; for many First Nations, it’s a luxury their communities can’t afford. “We have water fountains in the community store; for sewage, we still use outdoor washrooms,” said Ian Knott, a band councillor who...

Attawapiskat getting help after issuing desperate... →
Andy Johnson, CTVNews.ca In the northern Ontario community of Attawapiskat, described by one MP as “Canada’s Haiti but with -20 degree temperatures,” many families are preparing for winter with little more than uninsulated shacks, tents or mold-infested houses to keep out the cold. That reality caused the community to declare a state of emergency last month, a move that has...

Babies have inborn sense of justice →
WASHINGTON: Babies as young as eight months want to see antisocial individuals punished, a new study has found, suggesting that humans develop a sense of justice at a very tender age. In contrast, younger babies prefer to see individuals being nice to one another - even when that means that someone is nice to a character who deserves a slap on the wrist, found the researchers.

Terms of Kyoto accord favour quick exit by Canada  →
Environment Minister Peter Kent continues to be coy about whether Canada will officially withdraw from the Kyoto Protocol, even though he’s adamant that the climate-change agreement is part of the past as far as his government is concerned. A look at the protocol itself, however, suggests strongly that given the positions taken by the Conservative government, there is little doubt that the...

Manitoba infant's death underlines poor health... →
WINNIPEG — Drianna Ross lived only two months, but her legacy promises to be intense scrutiny of health care on Manitoba First Nations. The infant was crying, coughing and breathing only with difficulty last Thursday. Her young parents, Erna Hastings and Paul Ross, rushed her to the local nursing station in God’s Lake Narrows, a First Nation some 500 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
